Dunn Council To Consider Employee Raises By KEILAH GOFF Of The Record Staff Dunn City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Dunn Municipal Building tonight at 7. Council members will consider the implementation of a 2.25 percent cost of living adjustment (COLA) mid-year increase for city employees. The COLA increase was proposed during the 2014-2015 budget discussions earlier this year, but the board made the decision to postpone and re-examine the city’s finances at the mid-year point. The board will take action to appoint a new mayor pro tem to fill the position currently occupied by Councilman Buddy Maness. Mr. Maness was appointed to the position Oct. 8, 2013, to fill the unexpired term of Bryan Galbreath. Board members will consider a municipal agreement between the City of Dunn and N.C. Department of Transportation for the construction of a sidewalk along the north side of East Cumberland Street, running from Clinton Avenue to Magnolia Avenue. They will also discuss a resolution to honor Dunn native Gen. William C. Lee by adding a memorial title of “General William C. Lee Memorial Avenue” to the section of General Lee Avenue between West Cumberland Street and West Harnett Street. New street signs would be placed at each end of the memorial street, but would not require a change of addresses for residents or businesses along that segment. The meeting is open to the public. Citizens are invited to address the council during the public comment period. Each speaker is limited to three minutes, and must register on a sign-up sheet available in the council chamber prior to the meeting.
