During our work day this past Saturday I was struck by the contrast as I watched one of our members (Al) as he took great care around the flowers beds by pulling out teeny-tiny weeds one at a time. Others (Fred, Jim, and me) were wrestling with the big long stretch of tumbleweeds that lined the highway, many of which required a great deal of grunting and groaning to get them out. I think of opening lines from the hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful: “All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all.” I like to picture God delicately and carefully tending to the tiniest bits of Creation...as well as launching head-first into the big stuff too; which brings us to the closing lines of the hymn: “He gave us eyes to see them, And lips that we might tell, How great is God Almighty, Who has made all things well.” May we always see and tell about the glory of God.
