During the height of apartheid, Monty Seremane, Joe Seremane to - TopicsExpress

During the height of apartheid, Monty Seremane, Joe Seremane to you, was exiled to Montshiwa, Mmabatho in Bophuthatswana by the apartheid regime and continued to freely express his Pan Africanist views there through the press. Not even once was he arrested. He went on to marshall to the deployment of APLA combatants around UNIBO to protect the students there against the invasion by the AWB at the fall Bophuthatswana. Dr. Gomolemo Mokae lived in Ga-Rankuwa, Bophuthatswana and freely operated his surgery in Ramogodi while freely spreading the concept of Black Consciousness Movement and the ideology (if there was one) of AZAPO. I dont know of him ever being arrested for that. At the begining of the democratic era, and this under the presidency of the esteemed Nelson Mandela, a young Cebekhulu man was whisked out of the country to Britain (exiled) out of fear that Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, then an MP and possibly a Deputy Minister at the time, would bring harm to him. Father Trevor Huddleston who had come back from exile when the exiles returned, went back into exile as a result of what he said was the hostility he received at the hands of those he was involved in the struggle with. Poet, author and academic Zakes Mda had to exile himself in the US because of what he says was the sidelining he received from the ruling party as a result of him criticising the Mandela administration. A journalist (I just forget his name) was sent out of the country and posted abroad because he had criticised the Mandela administration to an extent that Mandela summoned him to his office and gave him the hot beans. Just around 2009, an HIV positive young woman was forced into exile out of fear that she might be persecuted for having laid rape charges against someone who was to become president of this country. Now given the foregoing, which one between the apartheid era Bophuthatswana and the present day democratic South Africa more appropriately fits the definition of a dictatorship?
