EBOLA:WE ARE ALL GUILTY Its no news that EVD is here with us! The Epidemic started in Guinea Conakry in February 2014,a tiny West African nation that never had the capacity to contain the spread, African nations and the international community thought it was a Guinean problem. In spite of the Fact that we knew that country lacked the capacity to handle it we abandoned them to their fate! A fact so dread where was ECOWAS? where was WEST AFRICAN HEALTH COMMUNITY? Where was African Union? Where was WHO? WE all never bothered! A country that had no Human and Material Resources to handle the Epidemic was left on its own! Gradually the Epidemic has involved Liberia, Gambia, Sierra Leone, and now Nigeria !While various Governments and their Ministries of Health are battling to contain the Epidemic, this is :medicine after death;For every index case there are more than 100 people already infected! Guinea has struggled with this epidemic for over six months, Africa and the international community did nothing to help them! Today NOBODY is immune! NOBODY is save! It will cost all of us one hundred times the amount we could have helped Guinea contain this Epidemic than stopping the spread now! Africa has failed! The international community has failed! USA is sending 50 Public Health Physicians to West Africa to help curb the spread! Ab initio this should have been the African response! Suprisingly Many states in Nigeria are waiting for an index case to act! This is wrong! Assuming there is a suspicious case do we have the personal protective equipment to attend to such a case or we should abandon the patient and run away! We should be proactive because by the time you wait for an index case to act, its too late! African Union and the West African Health community Should evolve a mechanism for a coordinated approach in the sub- region
