EBOLA (When Humanity Fails, Humanity) How people and governments can stand by and allow anyone or group of people to withhold life preserving treatment to masses of people stricken by disease, is not something my nature or decades of learning can righteously compute. For me, its insane, and no amount of excuses rooted in profit or race, underscores the fact that such a act is cold blooded murder. Indeed, in the context of Cholera in Haiti and Ebola in West Africa, to withhold treatment is nothing short of genocide. I would guess that the psychological make up of a person, or the kind of people, who would put profit and race hatred before human lives, causing massive death and destruction, is a lesson of history. That is to say, sadly, that there are people and groups that would ignore human suffering, by holding back on life saving inventions, because the profit margin is non existent or manufacturing the product is somehow not cost effective. To say the least about withholding life saving treatments because of the combined reasons, that the victims are poor and people of color. If people of color, and the poor in general, need to know why its important to develop our own social and economic support systems and institutions, we need only review our current experiences: with Ebola; gentrification; inequality in economic distribution and education; the seemingly endless decades of incarcerating people of color and the senseless killings of people of color, by law enforcement. All these major Life Effecting occurrences, speak to a reality that, for me, says, racist are not finished with their racist madness. Its time for people of color and progressives to let go of our delusions that racist will suddenly realize the harm they are causing in our world and transform into loving, caring and humanely productive human beings. Racism combined with capitalism are twin demons. Together, these two mentalities have accounted for some of the greatest atrocities human history has recorded. To think racist are not finished creating human devastation, is as sad, as it is both frightening and challenging. In the case of Ebola, like too many other tragedies in human history, denying treatment to other human beings, amounts to just another occasion when humanity fails, humanity. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ultraviolet light robot kills Ebola in two minutes; why doesnt every hospital have one of these?
