EDGE OF TOMORROW: Tom Cruise plays a reluctant (to say the least) soldier, Cage, in a war of man vs. alien invaders, with everything (I mean EVERYTHING) on the line.... Europe has been invaded by spider-like space aliens who can see the future by resetting time, and who are, as a result, winning the battle against mankind quite convincingly. Cruises character repeats the same day a couple of thousand times, but every time he gets to take all that he has learned into the next experience.... Its not going to give it away if I tell you that in the end, we (humans) win. The lovely Emily Blunt plays Rita, a hardcore soldier with a hardcore reputation. She was once able to re-live her last day, like Cage can, when they meet. They team up to make it more than just the Tom Cruise show and the story and the way the actors tell it is good..... Bill Paxton reminded me of why he is one of my favorite bit part actors, by the way he played Sgt. Farell, the leader of Cages combat squad. We like action/adventure, and we arent too cool to like Tom Cruise. If you dont like action/adventure, you probably dont know who Cruise is; if you do like a/a and still dont like Tom Cruise, you probably dont like gnomes, leprechauns, little people, household pets, and children. If you are this sort of hater, just unfriend me now.... Seriously, this was one of the better Cruise movies I have seen in a few years. If youre not the type who can suspend your certitude in order to consider things like time travel, multiple lives, and space invaders (who are really, really p.o.d about something, though we dont know what), this movie is not for you. I you like some good fiction, youll like this film.... imdb/title/tt1631867/
