EDITORIAL: #South_Korea loses a core democratic value #Asahi South Korean prosecutors indicted the former Seoul bureau chief of the Japanese newspaper #Sankei Shimbun on Oct. 8 without arresting him on charges he seriously defamed South Korean President Park Geun-hye in an article. More than two months have passed since the article in question was published on the newspaper’s website. It took an unusually long time for prosecutors to decide on whether to prosecute the case apparently because they kept wavering until the last moment. South Korea is supposed to be a country which, like other industrial nations, puts great importance on freedom and democracy.
