EFF STATEMENT ON THE WASTEFUL LAND SURVEY, WHICH DOES NOT HELP BRING OUR LAND BACK! 06 September 2013 The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is not surprised that the land survey process has been used to subvert land reform instead of assisting the nation to redistribute land to the landless majority. The preliminary results announced by the Surveyor General(SG), Mr Mmuso Riba indicate that the survey has not been conceptualised or implemented in a manner that would aid land redistribution, furthermore the survey result told the nation nothing new, therefore making the whole process expensive but useless. It’s not a secret that the colonial government in 1913 divided South Africa into 87% white owned land and reserved 13% for blacks. The 13% of the land is what comprises African reserves which later became the Bantustans. 100 years later the ANC tells the nation that the state owns 14% of the land including the homeland land. This was already known by everybody who is concerned with land and who cares for the landless majority. Shockingly the Surveyor General told the media that government doesn’t know what race owns what percentage of land in SA. This is a lie and a cover up. To know what land is owned by whom one just has to look at government’s own statistic of land redistribution. Since 1994 the ANC has redistributed less than 8% back to black people. So almost 80% of the land is owned by less than 50 000 white households and trusts. This is a known fact. Why is the SG saying there is no information on this? The problem in our country is not land survey; the problem is that the ANC is scared to redistribute land to the black majority. The land survey and the announced re-opening of the failed restitution claims process are cheap electioneering stunts that would not redistribute land. These measures are used to divert attention from a simple truth: The ANC is committed to the “willing buyer, willing seller” policy which is the surest way to block land redistribution. That the ANC has hired the arch opponent of land for blacks, one Pieter Mulder as the deputy minister of Agriculture is testimony enough that under the ANC government blacks shall never get their land back. Only a clear and unapologetic process of land expropriation without compensation can solve the land problem in our country to end the landlessness of the majority. EFF is totally committed to returning the stolen land to end racism . It is unfortunate but expected that the ANC has chosen to use the land survey and re-opening of the restitution claims to further delay the return of land to the black majority. EFF is aware of the ongoing apartheid on farms and also within the restitution process where blacks are paid as little as R5000 compensation and whites are given millions and even billions. EFF government shall bring all this injustices to an immediate end and restore dignity to blacks. We shall not buy back our land. There is enough land for all those who need it. The solution is simple: LAND EXPROPRIATION WITHOUT COMPENSATION! ISSUED BY ECONOMIC FREEDOM FIGHTERS: Contact Mbuyiseni Ndlozi - EFF National Spokesperson.
