EFFECTIVE WAYS OF RESUME WRITING Is a resume important for job search? Should we spend enough time in writing resume? Thats a question everyone asks among them, and the answer to that is YES. A resume is important as it will represent You on paper and what you can offer to the firm. Your resume represents how well you can sell yourself. Having a good resume while going for interview is essential as it represents your set of skills, your experiences and how well you can perform a task. Your resume can also be your advertisement tool but make sure you dont sell yourself short. Focus on employers needs Your resume should focus on employers needs, not yours and in case you choose to send your resume by mail or email then always include a cover letter to classify the job for which you are applying for. Dont include Hobbies or social skills unless they are related to the job you are applying for, if you have any additional certifications or specialized training be sure to put it down in your resume as well. Try to include any related unpaid work that you have done, such as internships or non-profit contribution. Include important information at top Most of the times the employer only reads the first half of your resume so make sure all the important information is there which you want to put across to the employer. Differentiate yourself A Resume should have a sense of purpose like why is it being sent? What makes you the important candidate for the job? What unique abilities do you posses that the others dont? Make it to the point Your C.V should be accurate; it should be based on FACTS and not ASSUMPTIONS. There should be clarity in the text; dont use fancy vocabulary if you are not sure about the interviewer understanding it. Make sure dates of employment and education are included and accurately stated. Avoid grammatical and typo mistakes Make sure your resume should not contain any mistakes. Make it absolutely certain that you do not make any spelling, grammatical or punctuation errors. Make simple layout The layout of your resume should be easy to read and pleasing to eyes. Overall appearance should invite one to read it. Typing should be neat, clean and with an on sight of a professional look. Avoid graphics design and colorful paper unless you are in the design field. Avoid using same words again and again to strike out redundancy factor.
