EKITI 2014: BETWEEN THE SAINT AND THE SATAN In Ekiti 2014 - TopicsExpress

EKITI 2014: BETWEEN THE SAINT AND THE SATAN In Ekiti 2014 gubernatorial campaign, the stage is already set between two titans. In the umbrella corner is Ayo Fayose, and the Eruobodo of Ekitiland, an outspoken man, handsome, tall, manipulation genius, representing the PDP. And in the broom corner is the characteristic, amiable, futuristic, and democratic and the people’s choice, Dr. John –Kayode - Fayemi, representing the state healing medicine - APC. Awa o ni ki agbelegbo ma din akara, sugbon o ku eni ti yio baa raa. History must play a significant role in determining who fits the bill to govern Ekiti state later this year. Since both Fayose and Fayemi have respectively served occupied the governorship at different times, their achievements and lapses should be thoroughly examined by all reasonable electorates that would not want to mortgage the lives of their children for peanuts. Remember, you cannot eat your cake and have it back. No one rules out bribery and corruption in this contest. But think of what a few thousands of naira in bribe would do to upstage the meaning of your life at the end of the day. It does not worth it for anyone to lay down his/her life for any aspirant in form of indulging in acts of hooliganism or vote rigging and stealing as the end result could only impoverish the community as a whole. Going by performance records, Ayo Fayose did his bits. Moreover, what resulted to his sacking from the office of the governor in the past could be traced to factors of illegality. Till this day, Fayose is still a man being hunted by the EFCC on counts of financial fraud whilst in power. Giving such a candidate a second chance would amount to insensitivity to the plights of the Ekiti people who struggle on daily basis to effectively make use of their paltry income. Dr. Fayemi as the incumbent has proved a taller tree in financial prudence. He has not achieved to his best but another term could only bring better dividend to the people of Ekiti. Between the saint and the satan, the choice is yours. -Dr Sehinde Aruleba
