Professor Aina said that the dream of making the university a world class academic institution was on course and noted that “our focus has been on building a culture of academic excellence that is founded on adequate infrastructure and a conducive environment for research, teaching and learning.” To achieve this, the vice chancellor said the response “to the challenge of excruciating financial constraint is to diversify and in particular look outward for alternative sources of funding,” and noted that the university had “made a remarkable progress in diversifying the sources of funding for the university.” Professor Aina said some of the projects to be inaugurated during the convocation ceremonies of the 32-year-old institution were built with grants of N646million received from the Tertiary Institutions Trust Fund (TETFUND) and said the university was hoping to utilise its N2billion share of universities revitalisation fund to further develop the institution.
