ELECTION TODAY UPDATE!!!! Despite the break-up of the two principal political alliances in Maharashtra, the state is either heading for a re-marriage of the old partners or witness the formation of new alliances, according to most exit polls. Uddhav Thackerays Shiv Sena will be the second largest gainer in Maharashtra while both the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party getting pushed to third and fourth position in the tally. The 25-year-old alliance between the BJP and the Shiv Sena saw an acrimonious split last month after weeks of intense parleys over sharing of seats for the October 15 polls. The exit poll conducted by Times Now-CVoter projected 129 seats for the BJP, Shiv Sena 56, Congress 43, NCP 36, MNS 12 and Others 12. Acoording to ABP News-Nielsen exit poll, the BJP is set to garner 127 seats, Shiv Sena 77, Congress 40, NCP 34 and MNS 5 and Others 5. According to News24-Todays Chanakya exit poll projected 151 seats for the BJP, Shiv Sena 71, Congress 27, NCP 28 and MNS+Others 11. In Haryana, News24-Todays Chanakya exit poll projected 52 seats for the BJP, INLD 23, Congress 10 and Others 5. The votes for the Assembly polls will be counted on October 19.
