I got this email from 350.org and I didnt believe it so I called his DC office and its true. I love Carl Levin - he has been such a leader on what is the right thing to do throughout his career. This would be a terrible way to end his legacy. Please call him and tell him that Michigan holds 21% of the fresh water supply on the planet. The Pipeline endangers aquifers across America with dirty tar sands oil that has leaked many times in other places and caused terrible lasting damage. The company TransCanada that is pushing it first said it would create 5000 jobs. Then when people saw that and screamed they said OK 20,000 temporary jobs (zero in Michigan). The Koch brothers get $100 million from this Pipeline alone to use against Democrats running in Michigan in fact. It isnt worth ripping up our farms, football fields and ranches for oil that goes to China, does nothing to lower prices and makes our Climate Crisis even a more devastating challenge. That money should be spent on renewable energy development; not 150 year old technology that endangers our survival.
