EN - Press point by Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and Jens Stoltenberg, NATO secretary General, following their meeting at the European External Action Service - EEAS - #FULL version - 04.11.2014 - Brussels: Extracts - #FedericaMogherini: We have a common challenge in front of us. Security environment that is worrying more and more and the intention both stated by the European Union at the Council in June last time and by NATO at the last summit in Wales that cooperation among us should improve, also because this is the only way of having effective capabilities on the ground and we all know how much is important that we manage to have an effective work on the defence and security landscape. (...) We covered also the hot topics that are in our agenda, starting from Ukraine, Russia sharing the needs for a firm and strong reaction together with an open channel of dialogue, this mix could maybe give us a political solution of the crisis on the eastern Ukraine. We also discussed issues related to the Middle East and the Mediterranean, in particular Siria and Irak and also Lybia. We discussed also situation in the western Balkans where both NATO and the EU have an engagement and a presence. Federica Mogherini, on EULEX Kosovo (Official): I intend to appoint as a matter of urgency and independent experience legal experts to review the mission mandate implementation with a particular focus on the handling of delegations of corruption. Jens Stoltenberg NATOs generalsekretær: We have a lot in common, we share common values, we share common assessments and we face common challenges and we are working together in the Balkans, Afghanistan and also in fighting piracy off of the coast of the African horn.
