EP WORD OF THE DAY The amount of forgiveness and mercy that you - TopicsExpress

EP WORD OF THE DAY The amount of forgiveness and mercy that you receive is directly connected to the amount YOU GIVE. (Matt 18:33) The Lord teaches us that in the prayer forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those... From your very mouth you are asking God to grant you the level that you FORGIVE. You are setting the yardstick. And what happens next is very interesting...He goes on to tell the parable about the servant (us) that had been forgiven much (all your sin) by his King (God) an incredible debt, only to turn around and throw their fellow servant (mom, dad, friend, family, employer, spouse, stranger, etc.) whose debt was much smaller debt (an offense) than yours (every sin against God) into prison (broken relationship, estrangement, separation, anger, etc.) until they paid their debt (make it right with you, etc.). Now this is the most important part...in ANGER He (God) calls that servant a wicked or evil servant (you who has not forgiven) and hands them (you) over to the jailers to be tortured until they have paid their debt. Do you think there are jailers or jails in HEAVEN?...do you think that once in hell you can still be redeemed, pay your debt and get out...I think not. No my friends...that torture is the pain that your go through (physical, mental, emotional) when you carry a grudge and lack forgiveness. You actually become the prisoner of that un-forgiveness. And the jail is your everyday life. Nothing goes the way you want...relationships are always strained...you are always in turmoil and you keep looking upward and saying like David (old testament): How long will YOU (God) exalt my enemies over me? And with that same mouth you say, Forgive me my trespasses, as I forgive... Stop kidding yourself. The whole of our relationship starts with His forgiveness of our sins so that we can be in right standing with God. The ability to practice forgiveness is the truest mark of our walk. He closes by saying, This is how my (Jesus) heavenly Father (God) will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from YOUR HEART. Not just lip service...like it never happened. Take a second to close your eyes and think of that person that you need to forgive...and then forgive them from your HEART...whether they forgive you or not ask them to forgive you for not forgiving them. For you have been forgiven much. George L. Ortiz, Jr. servant https://soundcloud/ep_ministries/forgive-full-sermon
