ETHICS CHARGES DISMISSED I am relieved that the Investigating Committee recognized the ethics complaints against me as “unjustified”. Having been on the city council for 6 years, I have continuously worked to do what I have felt was in the best interest of the City, often taking positions that were not popular. The allegations of ethics charges were difficult for me to hear. I appreciate that ethics charges can be very tricky because it is often difficult to understand the nature of one’s actions without having a full understanding of the environment within which a statement or an action is made. In today’s culture of 5-second video clips, it is sad that we so often rush to the judgment that a person is guilty until proven innocent. While this has all been very frustrating, I deeply respect the course the City took to afford the complainants every opportunity to be heard, even when the results were determined to be “patently unfounded”.
