EVENING DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE: FACE TO FACE WITH THE GOD OF MERCY SERIES PART 6 Prepared by Pastor Charles Chanda: Pretoria, South Africa DIVINE PROVISIONS THROUGH THE MERCY OF THE SON OF GOD! Jhn 21:5-6 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. 6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. What a merciful God we serve! Who would have thought that a Peter, a Thomas and the rest of the disciples who had forsaken Christ will be provided for by the same Saviour? Can you see how so many people who fell into sin sale themselves to the Devil because they do not see themselves receiving mercy. God is speaking to you and me this evening. Do not sale yourself to the Devil for the evil that you have done. Come back home. Jesus is willing to help you find your lost faith. I encourage every backslider no matter what you have done not to miss tonight’s opportunity of restoration. There is mercy at the table of the Lord for everyone. Do not allow Satan’s voice to be so loud tonight. Yes you have done what the Devil has been accusing you but you have decided to come back to the Lord. Drop that sin you have been planning the whole day to commit. Go and through away all those instruments of sin no matter how much you have spent. The Lord is calling you to come back home today. SINNING AGAINST THE SAINTS IS SINNING AGAINST CHRIST! Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Mat 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. Act 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. Jesus forgave Peter and Thomas and visited them. Let us learn from that and forgive those who have done evil against. Let us show them mercy. CONSEQUENCE OF FISHING WITH A GUILTY CONSCIENCE! Jhn 21:2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. 3. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. I am sure you are a Bible student and have noticed that this is the first time when Peter and Thomas appear next to each other when giving the list of apostles. Normally it has been Peter, Jame and John. Why was Peter mentioned next to Thomas? It was because of what they had done which was so fresh. Yes God could have had forgiven them but they needed an assurance from Christ. Mat 26:75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly. Mar 14:72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. Luke 22:34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. They caught nothing not because God was punishing them but to show them just how much he loved them. He also wanted them to know that he will never keep a grudge for anything done to him or said about him. Child of God, are you like that? See how many people you have punished because they did something to you in the past. God wants us to be Christ like. When you discover that you are catching nothing, do not curse God as you may not know why things are like that in your life. THROUGH HIS MERCY CHRIST GAVE THEM THE ASSURANCE THAT THEY WERE STILL CHILDREN OF GOD! John 21:5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. 1John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Mar 14:72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Christ came to see his struggling and frustrated disciples and addressed them as “children”. This gave them the assurance that they had been forgiven. Christ will give you the assurance today that he has forgiven you. Come to him in repentance and tell him that you are sorry for all that you have done. IT WAS A MIRACLE OF MERCY AFTER A NIGHT OF FRUITLESS ATTEMPT! John 21:6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. It is miracle time for you and me. Underserved favour is coming your way in Jesus Name. The past is past. Forgive yourself and march on. Your mistakes will not stop God from giving you a great catch. Get ready to receive! LET US PRAY! Father we thank you for mercy which endureth forever. Lord I bring your people to your fountain of mercy. No matter what they have done, pardon them in Jesus Name. Father the way you parted the red sea for the children of Israel, do it for all of us in Jesus Name. We humbly plead for your mercies eternal Father. Rain your miracles in every nation where this message will be ready and upon every individual who will cast eyes on this word in Jesus Name. Thank you Lord for the answer. In Jesus Name I pray!
