EVER FORGET YOUR PANTS? Colossians 3:12-14 (CEB) 12Therefore, as Gods choice, holy and loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13Be tolerant with each other and, if someone has a complaint against anyone, forgive each other. As the Lord forgave you, so also forgive each other. 14And over all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. REFLECT Did you ever dream that dream where youre standing in front of your class at school, maybe presenting a book report or something, and everybody starts to snicker and laugh? And you cant figure out why at first, but then you look down and realize that you forgot to wear your pants to school? And its awful because there is no place to go. Even if you run from the room, there are people in the hall that see you, too. It is not a good dream to have, because even though its just a dream, that dreadful feeling of embarrassment is real. In todays passage, Paul tells us to get dressed. He talks about compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, and love. He talks about wearing these things as clothes, because as Christians, without these, were naked. Remember what happened to Adam and Eve when they suddenly realized they were naked? (Genesis 3) They became embarrassed and ashamed—so much so that they couldnt stand in front of God. We stand in front of God every day. Let us not be ashamed by a lack of compassion or an act of unkindness or boastfulness or impatience. RESPOND Fill out this list.
