EVERYONE PLEASE READ & SHARE ! So as some of you may know I bought myself a brand new Kia Rio just over a month and a half ago. 2 weeks after I bought the car I parked at work (slight hill) as usual and went in to my office. 35 minutes later a truck driver came in to tell me that my car had rolled into his truck. I left my car parked in 1st gear WITH the handbrake applied but the car proceeded to stay stationary for over half an hour before moving. I dont know about you, but I have never heard of a car roll in first gear let alone with the handbrake applied!!. The next day my car was towed to Kia where they proceeded to adjust my handbrake and tell me that my car was within specifications, However, the manager there stated that have would not let his daughter drive this vehicle. Since then Kia have denied fault, advising that they cannot replicate the situation. But of course thats no surprise to me since they adjusted the vehicle before performing any tests on the car! Now Im sitting here with a $600 insurance excess bill to fix my car because Kia have refused to fix the damage. In the letter of refusal, which took over a week and a half and countless phone calls to receive, they spelt my name incorrectly and blatantly lied claiming that the vehicle does not roll in 1st gear without a handbrake applied. Which is quite comical considering a member of my family and THEIR service manager witnessed the car rolling straight away. This whole experience has been upsetting and extremely distressful and I hope that by posting this, you all can be aware of how car companies, Kia in particular do not help their customers and will lie to prove they are not at fault. The footage below, whilst not very clear shows my white car in the top left of the screen rolling into the truck. So please, feel free to share my story. Because as far as Im concerned this is not fair on me and is despicable customer service.
