EYERS, ZONE ON PROGRAM, We welcome you all to todays Zone On discussion program. Today, we discuss the Kwacha that is now on free fall against other major currencies. Some have described depreciation as a crisis that is resulting into the cost of living going up as most of the commodities in Zambia are imported. As for local businesses that depend on foreign exchange the volatility of the Kwacha makes business planning difficult. On the other hand, others have welcomed the prevailing situation as it makes locally produced goods cheaper on the international market and for the diaspora it works to their advantage as they can buy property cheaper and other goods cheaper than before. Should the Kwacha be let to depreciate as quickly as it is doing? If not what is the solution to this problem? To discuss this topic, we have Martin Walubita Mubita, Hector Ulweela Musankwa, and we extended our invitation to Brian Mulenga we hope he will make it.
