Each nation has its own culture, and culture is made up of norms - TopicsExpress

Each nation has its own culture, and culture is made up of norms and values. Norms can be what is normal to wear, values can be how it is worn or where it is worn. Norms can be what kind of foods you eat, values can be the purpose of eating such foods, etc. Muslims therefore, belong to the nation of Islam (the Ummah) and our culture is the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), our norms and values are dictated by the practise of the laws found in the Quraan and Sunnah. It is natural for one nation to find the norms and values of other nations to be weird, because weird simply means unusual and different. Yet, not everything that is unusual or different is bad or wrong. When non-Muslims judge Muslims on our culture and beliefs, they are being intolerant of the simple fact that we are not from their nation, we have and intend to keep our culture and beliefs. Therefore, some non-Muslims when they attack the culture and beliefs of Muslims, this is called right wing extremism because they are against other cultures joining their nations, this joining is called, multiculturalism. Islamic nations have always been multicultural and the best example of this was during the existence of Al Andalusia, another great example is during the Hajj. We ask that our non-Muslim brothers and sisters who find our culture and beliefs to be unusual and different, to try to learn that not everyone can be the same! - Br. Ijaz.
