Each year there are lots of children that spend their Christmas day in a refuge, not through their fault or their parent that has been the victim, but because they have all had to move their world as they have suffered from domestic violence. They all have very little, some-times only the few clothes they have fled with. Often the parent has very little money if any money at all. When they flee they have to sort out benefits as they may have always had their money taken by the abuser, benefits... take time to set up often up to and over 6 weeks before they get any money. Can you imagine spending Christmas day with nothing to open or even as a parent not being able to buy anything for your children. All because you cant take the physical abuse, mental abuse, that you have suffered for a long time. It must make them feel awful. They have already been run into the ground by the abuser, made to feel no one likes them or cares about them and they have been stripped of their self-esteem, made to feel totally worthless. By not having any money it just makes them think that everything they were told by the predator is true. So with our help we can show them that they are not on their own that they should feel good about themselves. They have taken the first step towards becoming a survivor by building the confidence to flee. They have not only left behind what was their home but they have also left behind any friends they had and also other family members like grandparents, aunties and uncles. We would like to help them this year, with your support, by giving them presents for their children and also something for them, something to make them feel wanted and restore their faith in people. These can be little items put into shoe boxes and wrap. a gift bag is as good as a box. closing date for drop off is the 12th December
