Earlier this year, I had parked my car and was heading in to Infusion Upper Tumon. A truck parked next to me and a young man stepped out and went in to the store. He left his car on and I wondered why, because I couldnt see any larger figures in the car. But there was an infant sized carseat, with a baby inside it. So I waited outside of my car, near the babys door. It took that young man almost 4 minutes to find and pay for what he needed. He came out, smiled at me and before he put his shades on I walked closer to him. All I said was sir, please dont leave the child in the car shook my head and left into Infusion. He said oh! oh okay and his expression went from a mans confident swag to that of a teary eyed boy. It seems he knew that what he did wasnt right and though he left the aircon on, he was gone long enough for the child to choke on a toy or his spit (of all minor things us observant parents know can happen) or for someone to steal the car. Im not saying that Im perfect, because Dazzy has been accidentally locked in our turned off car due to the autolock feature my chevy aveo has. Ive accidentally pish the lock button myself and locked him in the car while it was on as well and while I take as many precautions to avoid those situations, accidents do happen. There are too many car-related deaths that we are being informed of involving infants and children and we should all take care of each other. -Buckle up your children - Give them the appropriate carseats - Have an aircon or keep the windows rolled down when driving - Dont smoke when children are present in the vehicle (Damn, dont smoke at all) - (what I need to practice more) Get off the damn phone for minor crap. - Dont leave a child in the car whether its on or off and whether you think children are old enough to be ok. My argument to my dad about going in to the store really quickly leaving my 9 year old sister in the car with Dazzy was that oh geeze dad, you guys would leave us in the running car to get something in the store but he made a point that it definitely isnt the same Guam as it was 12 years ago... So just think smart, think safe & trust me, Ill break the damn windows of any parked car that has a child inside, I wont wait to call the cops, wth?!
