Earlier this year I had the pleasure of caring for someone with ALS at an ICU, she was the mother of a well known and very successful surgeon. I say pleasure because it was then that I learned the most about ALS and a few things about life. She was at the last stages of the disease. She only communicated with her beautiful big eyes by moving them from side to side for yes/no, blinking a certain amount of times to let us know she was in pain, and at times I was able to feel her frustration by the tears shed shed. This is a horrible thing to see, to know she could hear me yet her body couldnt react. She had the most polite son and husband, they were well off financially yet there wasnt much they could do for her besides an attempt to keep her comfortable. So much money is spent on useless things like wars and giving it away to people who can work yet wont, it would be nice if that money was used on more research for these types of conditions. This video and his progression reminded me of her. We spend so much time worrying about things that dont really matter. I waste no time, I talk a lot, Im loud, I do LOL as often as I can, I love deeply, I make friends and lasting bonds when I can. I dont want to get to a point in my life where I can no longer tell those around me how much I love them 😊 we should all try this sometime LOL 😘😉
