Early in the morning I take my dog for a walk in a dead-end street adjacent to my house which remains rather secluded. Most days I happen to see a couple, a girl on a bike intently reading from sheets of paper and a boy hovering next to her. Obviously, the boy is helping her in her studies...it is the need to do so clandestinely that puzzles me. When any number of unlawful activities can be carried out with impunity in broad daylight, how sad is it that the act of studying has to be done furtively? In Shining India is it not a shame that in some sections of society it is still very dark? I smile at them and imagine that the girl will be a trail blazer and other girls in her family will follow in her footsteps...and one day India will truly Shine.
