East Kent Meeting Report Summer Championship Round 8 Parkgate MX 15/06/2014 It was a grey & slightly cooler father’s day that greeted the EK riders yesterday, but there wasn’t any rain & with the promise of the “parent race” at the end of the day, everyone was keen to get on with it. The Big Wheels were out first & Tom Lockhart showed why he is No.1 in the Big Wheel Championship by winning all 3 motos. Freddie McPherson took the second spot in the first moto but couldn’t quite match that in race 2 & 3 but had to settle for 3rd in the third Charlie Caudwell again put his heart into his racing & after missing out on 3rd in race 1 to Reece Poxon who has been quietly creeping up the field lately he made sure he finished 2nd in the next 2 motos. Tom Nutley was delighted with his 3rd place finish too. The overall went to Tom, Charlie 2nd & Tom Nutley 3rd. The Autos were next out & boy was there a battle going on for first place. Sonny May has come a long way since the beginning of the season & in Race 1 finally got his very first win. Well done Sonny! Billy Moriarty had to settle for 2nd, but then battled hard with Sonny in Races 2 & 3 to make sure he got both wins with Sonny in 2nd place. Harrison Bowles has also been riding consistently well & took all three 3rd place finishes. The overalls were Billy in 1st, Sonny in 2nd & Harrison in 3rd. The Small Wheels were third out today, Ashley Surridge & Ike Carter continue to put on a great show for all the spectators, it was Ashley who took the first place in moto’s 1 & 2 but Ike took the final 1st place. Billy Carter, Adam Caroleo & Kyle MacGregor all raced their socks off to take the remaining positions. Billy taking 3rd in the first Adam 3rd in the 2nd, but Kyle really put the power on to take the 2nd place finish in the last with Ashley having to settle for 3rd. Ike took the overall with Ashley in 2nd & Adam the 3rd. The AMX continues to be the most popular group at EK & these boys were on it. Jason Robinson Took the win in the first with Dan Guy in 2nd & Rowan Hill 3rd. Rowan wasn’t happy about that placing & battled hard to take the wins in the remaining two races. John Waghorne took the two 2nd place finish spots & Jason Robinson had to settle for 3rd in both. Rowan took the overall, Jason 2nd & John Waghorne 3rd. Bradley Nolan visiting put his stamp all over this EK meeting by winning all three motos in the Junior group, Raife Broadley chased him down in each race but had to settle for 2nd place. Harrison Borg continues to show he is getting to grips with the 65cc machine to take 3rd in the first & last moto while Alfie Card took the 3rd spot in the second. The overall went to Brad with Raife 2nd & Harrison 3rd. The Seniors are always a good watch & today there was no change! Connor Dennis won all three moto’s Brad Robinson was also on it today to take all three 2nd spot finishes. Peter Andrews took 3rd in the first & 2nd but it was Joe Overton who claimed 3rd in the last. The overall went to Connor, Brad the 2nd step & Joe the 3rd. The Open were out last & were champing at the bit to get on with it, it was always going to be between four riders. Tony Cuddy, Lewis Dowsett, Junior Thomas & Ben Franklin. Tony claimed the first win with Lewis a close 2nd & Ben 3rd. In the second it was Lewis who took the win & Ben took the 3rd win. Junior finished 2nd in the first but couldn’t match that again & had to settle for two 3rds.The overall went to Tony with ben in 2nd & Junior 3rd. Finally it was the turns of the dads to show their boys & girls that they still have “IT”, after a Le Mans start in both practice and the race itself, these guys were already exhausted before they started racing! Oops! There was much good natured banter between the riders but as the last lap flag stayed out for two laps then disappeared completely for a couple of laps, really don’t know how that happened, there were some desperate faces begging for the finish flag as they went through the finish line again & again! It was Ian Pryce who took the chequered (also known to most as “Grandad Knott”) he did himself & his family proud. To all of you who took part a big well done, hope you’re not too sore today & are all able to go to work this week… EK would also like to wish all of the injured riders a speedy recovery & look forward to seeing you all again really soon.
