Eating Olives Prevents Cancer. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of olives protect the body from the development of cancer. Studies have shown that chronic oxidative stress (damage to cell structure and cell function) and chronic inflammation are the key factors for cell cancer. Black olives is a great source of Vitamin E that neutralizes free radicals in body fat. The mono saturated fats found in olives together with Vitamin E protects the DNA cells which prevents the production of free radicals. If the DNA of a cell is damaged by the free radicals causing oxidation, it may mutate and become cancerous. A diet supplemented by olive oil reduces the risk of colon cancer.
