Edgar Lungu Seals Presidential Bid with Massive Lusaka - TopicsExpress

Edgar Lungu Seals Presidential Bid with Massive Lusaka Rally Patriotic Front president Edgar Lungu sealed the road to State House with a rally more than twice bigger than his main rival, Hakainde Hichilema, at Lusaka’s Woodlands Stadium prompting area lawmaker Given Lubinda to mock a “small crowd” that attended the UPND rally. Lungu, a belated comer to the party after shaking off wrangles that threatened to disintegrate the ruling party, has touched most of the key places in his limited time and will hope that his message has been driven home. Today, he was joined by a horde of artistes and politicians. Fourth president Rupiah Banda and Acting President Dr Guy Lindsay Scott pitched up for the overwhelming crowd that showed up. Lungu arrived in Lusaka after addressing a rally in Ndola where he made his final Copperbelt call. Lungu has won the support of former Republican President Rupiah Banda who may have just handed over a commanding support of Eastern Province and some of the broader national support the respected statesman enjoys. His closest rival Hakainde Hichilema is held his final rally in Lusaka’s Mandevu area after having addressed a moderately attended rally on Sunday at Lusaka’s Woodlands on a rainy afternoon. zambiareports/2015/01/19/edgar-lungu-seals-presidential-bid-massive-lusaka-rally/
