From #DrydenNY Republican Steve Scott: Dear All, The House is taking up an immigration/amnesty bill now. The House should not pass any immigration/amnesty bill, but should pass a resolution to not take up any immigration/amnesty bill until the fence is completed. The fence was part of the 1986 immigration and amnesty bill and was also promised AND paid for in the Secure Fence Act of 2006. The problem with the House passing any immigration/amnesty bill, no matter how good the bill may be, is that it will then go to conference to be reconciled with the Senate bill. What comes back will in all probability be a terrible bill for the country while being a great bill for the future of progressivism. At that point the Democrats need only peel off a couple dozen squishy Republicans to pass the amended bill which most certainly be passed in the Senate. The country will then be stuck with progressivism for decades to come. One only needs to look to what has happened in California since the immigration/amnesty bill of 1986 passed. Prior to that California was a solidly Republican, fairly conservative state. It’s become one of the most progressive states that is incapable of managing its affairs in a responsible manner. I urge you to take a couple of minutes today and call your congressman’s office. Request they not pass any immigration/amnesty bill at all until the already paid for fence is completed. Ask them how your congressman intends to vote on any immigration/amnesty bill that comes before the House in the near future. A congressman who votes for any immigration bill does so with the full knowledge that the reconciliation process is highly likely to bring a bad bill back that stands a good chance of passing. We need the House to not pass any immigration bill.
