Edon NW Teachers Vote To Send Strike Notice To School Board Saturday Oct 18, 2014 3:19am By: Jim Measel (EDON) - Edon Northwest teachers are fed up with the lack of a new contract and have unanimously voted to authorize their bargaining team to send a ten day strike notice to the districts school board. The vote came this past Monday, one day before a mediation session failed to produce a settlement. The bargaining team will set a strike date sometime in the near future. The teachers union issued a statement on Friday which blasted the board for publicly releasing details of the failed mediation session. The E.N.T.A. says they will not engage in public negotiations. They also dispute the boards position that the district is deficit spending. They say its an attempt to hide the fact that the district is financially healthy. The old contract expired last June and teachers say they have no choice other than to strike because of what they feel is the Boards continued unwillingness to reach a fair contract settlement.
