Education is not the only sector that has nearly collapsed. - TopicsExpress

Education is not the only sector that has nearly collapsed. Health, water, environment, infrastructure (power, roads, etc.), industry, agriculture,...they all have failed. Its stupid of ASUU to think that it can fight selfishly to revamp education while the other sectors lie prostate. We need concerted efforts to tackle the problems globally. This suggests that ASUU ought to engage the cooperation of all stakeholders (NLC, National Assembly, Rights groups, NANS, market women, informal sector unions, etc.) to fight the war of reform jointly. Let ASUU tell us what their gain would be eventually if they succeeded in making the education sector the best in the world but the products of such Utopian education have no jobs or are faced with frustrating environments when trying to put their learning into practice. All the sectors need to move in tandem for education to have any good effect on the economy. That is why the struggle is beyond ASUU alone. And that is why some people suspect that ASUU is pursuing some selfish agenda. Indeed, what ASUU is doing now is further destroying the socio-economic foundation of Nigeria. ASUU, enough of your destructive strikes. We need a concerted and wholistic war, not a sectional one.
