Edwin W Reeves to Bear Thompson Reflections Of Nam as an 18 year old! As an 18 year old soldier i was very young! I was thrown into battle and with war i was stung! I was was ordered to battle an enemy that i did not know! But as a young soldier little did i know! That the battles we fought was in a war that was long and slow! We never gave up against an enemy elusive! But the dangers we faced were mind boggling and intrusive! And all through it all we were frightened by strikes! By an enemy hardened to give us a hard fight! As the days went by they turned into years! And all the young men that died, put us in tears! Once the war was over we returned to our home! Little did we know we would be all alone! Our country we fought for has let us all down! Now they look down on us with a hardened frown ! My body is home but not my mind! For the war is still battled in the back of my mind! Post Traumatic Syndrome is what they say it is called! But in the back of my mind it doesnt explain it at all! America has forgotten the gallant deeds we did! They stuck us in misery and then slammed down the lid! And on top of it all America then sprayed us! And then they Betrayed us!
