Eid marks the end of the month of Ramadan and is a cause for celebration in the Muslim world. It is also cause for celebration for those who did not observe the month of fast for any reason such as personal choice, health issues, or having a different religion. In Iran, Eid will mark the end of a month-long period of harassment, public lashings, and beatings of those who happened to be chewing gum, drinking water, eating a sandwich, or even smoking in the public domain at the hands of the Islamic Republic security forces. Happy Eid to those who observed and those who didnt.
