Eight Officials of the Driver and Vehicular Licensing Authority have been interdicted following an investigative piece into the activities of the Authority by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas. The piece titled Soul Takers shows how some DVLA Officials take huge sums of money from license seekers before issuing their Licenses. The work shows deep-seated corruption at the DVLA. In an interview with Radio Ghana, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Rudolph Beckley, said an investigative Committee has been set up to look into the issues. He confirmed that the authority is working hard to reduce human interference in their operations. Mr Beckley assured the public that the DVLA will tighten its system and clean it of all corrupt officials. Meanwhile, Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has warned that his next investigative piece will reveal more deep seated corruption in the country. Although he did not reveal the details of his next expose, Anas in his words said the discovery is not nice. Sharing experience of his latest work Soul takers, Anas told Radio Ghana that he is encouraged by the immediate action taken by management of the DVLA to his work. He however insists that the DVLA must give more attention to the issues raised. GBC
