Eileen Nichols, 71, of Connersville, was peacefully called to heaven with all of her children by her side Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Reid Hospital in Richmond. A Brookville native, Eileen was born Sept. 7, 1942, to Bertie and Hazel Marie Wehr Snapp and attended Brookville area schools. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Eileen had been employed at Fayette Regional Home Health and Hospice and had worked for several years at The Lincoln Centers. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and friend and touched everyone in her presence like a ray of sunshine. You always wanted to be around her. Her greatest passion in life was the care she gave to others professionally and personally which always ended with a smile. Eileen loved being outdoors where she could feel the sun on her face, watching her garden and flowers grow. Another love she had was mushroom hunting and nurturing people, especially her children and grandchildren. She was well known for her fabulous home-baked pies. Eileen will be sadly missed but very loved forevermore. Eileen is survived by her children and their spouses, Rick Lutes and Tamara of Orlando, Fla., Lori Anderson of Winchester, Troy Lutes and Stacey of Lynn, Kevin Lutes and Cathy of Orlando, Fla., Lisa Bloom and Dale of Connersville; her sister, Evelyn Drake of Everton; grandchildren and their spouses, Tara Spalding and Jayson, Joshua Lutes, Austin Lutes, all of Orlando, Fla., Amy Sailor of Lawrenceburg, Garrett Anderson of Winchester, Ashley Warren and Steven, LaShea Anderson, all of Indianapolis, Erica Smith and Brian of Spartanburg, Erin Lutes of Lynn, Elena Godsey and Steven of Richmond, Amanda Bross, Ryan Lutes both of Orlando, Fla., Chris Bloom and Ashley, Emily Judd and Clayton, Ian Bloom, Gracie Bloom, all of Connersville; great-grandchildren, Brady, Trevor, Brandon, Jacie, Owen, Olivia, Noah, Brianna, Landon, Madison, Joselyn, Arianna, Caiden, Alijah, Asher and another great-grandson expected soon; half-brother and sisters, Leonard, Brenda, Linda and Becky; her former husband, Richard Lutes of Connersville; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil L. Mousie Nichols and her son, Michael Lutes. A Celebration of Eileens life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with the Pastor John Reynolds of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home from noon Monday until the time of service.
