Elderly citizens to enjoy free medical treatment in Oyo Any moment from now, elderly citizens who are 65 years and above would enjoy free medical treatment in Oyo State, just as other categories of people would have the opportunity of visiting designated hospitals for free medical treatment. Senator Abiola Ajimobi disclosed this while receiving the Seventh Day Adventist Church led by Pastor Oyeleke Owolabi during a courtesy call on his in his office. The governor said that this was part of his administration’s comprehensive health insurance scheme which would soon be launched for the benefit of the people of the state. The governor said that the scheme, which would be the first in the history of the state, was part of his administration’s determination to make the people live a healthy and longer life. Governor Ajimobi also disclosed his government’s readiness to introduce a new education scheme where students would enjoy free food and also be provided with free uniforms with a view to providing quality education in the state. He commended the Seventh Day Adventist Church for its service to humanity, stressing that the church had always been at the fore-front of social, economic, intellectual and moral development. While speaking on his transformation agenda, Governor Ajimobi said that his administration was committed to maintaining the culture of obedience, decency and integrity with a view to discouraging the culture of impunity. ``This administration has been able to restore peace and security, and to transform the state through its urban renewal programme. We have encouraged the culture of Godliness, decency, integrity, obedience and to eliminate the culture of impunity,’’ he said. Earlier in his remarks, the Leader of the delegation, Pastor Owolabi commended the Ajimobi administration for its urban renewal programme and its religious tolerance, stressing that the state had remained the only in the comity of states with religious liberty. He pledged the readiness of the church to collaborate with the state government in its developmental drive, particularly in the areas of education and health.
