Eli Neilsen Wins Boys Middle School at Mt. Baker Invitational- The Mountain Lion Harriers went after it today with the big schools again, this time at Silver Lake Park near Maple Falls, and the star of the day was Mt Lion 8th grader Eli Neilsen who finished first in a field of 58 in the Boys Middle school division. Eli’s time of 9:52.53 was 2.2 seconds ahead of Ferndale’s AJ Rankin. Tim Haley (10:40) was 9th , Brayden White 32nd , Lazo Gitchos (12:12) 34th and Zach Strong (12:49) 44th . the MS boys were 5th in the team standings with 102 points amongst all larger classifications. The Mt Lion Varsity finished 6th in team standings, amongst all larger schools. In the field of 100 on the 2.97 mile course, Ben Klemmek was 6th, Liam Daily 16th, Willie Duguay 43rd, Morgan Ott 52nd, Josiah Klemmek 58th, Logan Szafus 90th and Carter Dornfeld 95th. In the JV race, Erik Ellis and Geza Sukovaty were 82nd and 99th in a field of over 150 runners. A link to results is found below. On the girls side, lone Mt Lion varsity runner Lilly Schlotzhauer ran the course in 24:52 and 7th grader Lucy Cole was 5th while 7th grader Sage Borgias was 15th out of 77 Middle School runners. All in all, a good day for the Mt Lions. Mt Baker is usually damp, we hear it was more than that today. Next up is a trip to Kettle Falls for the Can-Am next Saturday.
