"Elizabeth" by David Starkey: a terrible book unless you are VERY interested in the transition of religious and kingship from Henry the VIII and Elizabeth Royal I. The details are extremely well documented. But let me just say, every detail of every single thing is not interesting. The book could have used significant editing for readability and pacing. It is interesting at the beginning, gets bogged down during the rule of Mary, and then stays bogged down through what ought to be interesting. Pacing is everything. I hope this short review has drawn in history buffs and warded off people interested in a good read.
