Elkhart County Sheriff Department: Blotter News On June 25, Douglas Munson reported a burglary in the 21000 block of SR 120. The suspects forced entry through a side door to the residence and stole several guns, a gun cabinet, and a safe containing personal documents. On June 25, Gwendolyn Stoll (66), reported that her purse was stolen from her residence in the 50000 block of CR 23 on June 23 between 3:00 AM and 3:30 AM. On June 25, Jeffrey Simmons (45), reported that his prescription medication was stolen from the mail between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM on June 23 at his residence in the 15000 block of Foxtail Dr. On June 26, Dean Taylor Sr. (50) was arrested for disorderly conduct after an altercation and incident at a residence in the 53000 block of CR 9. He was also found to be in the possession of a controlled substance. On June 26, Troy Minegar (45) reported that a suspect driving a gray Mazda MPV van rear-ended this blue Toyota Corolla on SR 15 south of CR 10. The collision caused damage to the rear end of the Toyota, and the driver of the Mazda left the scene without providing his information or notifying the police. Troy Minegar followed the Mazda until police stopped him. Lucas Fisher (30) was found to be driving the Mazda, which had front end damage. Lucas Fisher was incarcerated at the Elkhart County Jail for leaving the scene of a property damage accident. On June 26, Joseph Vanness (38), reported that a suspect in a white passenger car had rear ended his AMC Eagle on CR 29 south of US 6 and left the scene without making report. Joseph Vanness was found to have been operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having failed a field sobriety test and submitting to a certified chemical test with a result of .14 BrAC. Joseph Vanness was incarcerated in the Elkhart County Jail. On June 27, Larry Kauffman (66) was stopped in the area of SR 19 south of CR 52 for traffic violations. He failed field sobriety tests, and a certified chemical test, which showed him to have a BrAC of .08, and was also found to be in possession of marijuana. Larry Kauffman was incarcerated in the Elkhart County Jail.
