Ella Margaret (Danford) Henkle passed away on August 5, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas; she was 89. Margaret was born September 21, 1923 in Lebo, Kansas; the daughter of John Danford and Helen (Freerksen) Danford. Margaret grew up in several places throughout her childhood; the family lived in Waverly and Hartford, Kansas as well as Burlington, Kansas where Margaret graduated from High School. After high school Margaret then went on the Kansas State Teacher’s College in Emporia, Kansas where she earned her teaching certificate. Before starting a family Margaret worked as a teacher for a short time. Shortly after Margaret met David Wayne Henkle and the couple was married on December 23, 1944 in Emporia, Kansas. The couple was blessed with six children: David, Judy, Curtis, Irene, Steven, and Mark. After some time the couple decided to make their home in Buffalo, Kansas where Margaret worked at Buffalo Grocery Store and for the City of Buffalo as a Bookkeeper. Also while in Buffalo Margaret attended Buffalo Christian Church until it’s closing, she then began to attend regularly at the Nazarene Church also in Buffalo, Kansas. Ella Margaret (Danford) Henkle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David Wayne Henkle on October 16, 1996, as well as three brothers: Bill, John and Jim Danford, and five sisters: Alice Freeman, Mary Hayes, Betty Smith, and Joyce and Edith Danford. She is survived by her children: David Henkle and wife Theresa of Burlington, Colorado; Judy Ternes and husband Greg of Walnut Shade Missouri; Curtis Henkle and wife Karin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Irene Floyd and husband George of Buffalo, Kansas; Steven Henkle and wife Linda of Winston Salem, North Carolina; and Mark Henkle and wife Carolyn of Bella Vista, Arkansas. In addition Margaret is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends. Services for Margaret are planned for Friday, August 9, 2013 at 1:30PM at the Nazarene Church in Buffalo, Kansas, burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, Kansas. The family will meet with friends the evening prior to the service, Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 6:00-7:00PM at Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center, Kansas. The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association- Central and Western Kansas Chapter and may be sent in care of Campbell Funeral Home P.O. Box 188 Yates Center, Kansas 66783.
