Email from Ryan Wells: Tville Travelers, Good news! We have the dates for our 2014 tour! We will be leaving on Friday, June 13th and returning Tuesday, June 24th. For those doing the Madrid extension, we’ll be returning on Friday the 27th. Some additional information: As you’ve noticed, half of our group as opted to do the extension to Madrid. This means that Becca Elkins will be traveling home from Barcelona with half of our group, and I, Ryan, we’ll be accompanying the rest of the group to Madrid and then home. As a group we will have two more meetings before departure. The next meeting will most likely take place at the end of April, then, our last pre-departure meeting will take place approximately 10 days prior to our departure (June 13th). EF is working on our travel plans as we speak and will have our flights booked shortly. As soon as I have the flight itineraries, I will be sure to email them out. We will discuss travel logistics in detail at our April meeting, but in the meantime, here’s one more thing to be thinking about: As mentioned at our last meeting, we as a group are strongly encouraging carry-on luggage only. What does this mean? Bring backpacks or small suitcases that don’t need to be checked. Standard carry-on bags are no larger than 22 x 14 x 9 inches. Remember that when you’re traveling Europe, you want to pack lightly. Instead of bringing clothes for every day, pack half that amount by learning how to wash your clothes in a sink/shower with travel-size detergent! Instead of bringing 4 pairs of shoes, limit that down to the two light weight options. Instead of bringing 10 of your favorite books, bring 2. Etc. Etc. If you want to check a bag, you can, but travel size luggage, in particular, travel back packs, are a great way to go. If you’re in the market for a travel backpack, some great stores for those are: REI, Sport’s Authority, or any other sporting/outdoorsy type stores. You can also get fitted at one of those stores, then buy a cheaper backpack somewhere like backcountry or gregorypacks. These are just ideas. Finally, if any of you ever want or need additional information, please don’t hesitate to stop by my classroom, or schedule a private meeting with Becca and I. We’re extremely excited about this trip and we can’t believe it’s only a few months away. Hope all is well. Ryan Wells
