Embrace Discipline 2 “And every man that strivat for the mastery is temprate in all things....” 1 Corinthians 9:25 KJV. There are many people today who are multi-millionaires not because they are smarter than those who are not. They became who they are because there are certain disciplinary measures they put in their lives that made them to be at the door when the door was opened. The athlete trains hard. He wakes up early the in the morning. He knows that before everyone gets up and before the road becomes congested with traffic, he has to do some jogging and some running whether it is comfortable or not, he has to do it so that he can stay fit. That is discipline! When it is cold and he wants to stay under the blanket and sleep, he remembers that he has a vision. Many vision fail for lack of discipline rather than for lack of resources. Discipline is one thing that every child of God must build into himself. Every person! You cannot be strong in the Lord without some discipline. Jesus, our Lord and perfect example, rose up early in the morning to pray regardless of His busy schedules (Mark 1:35) There are things you cannot afford to neglect if you truly desire strong Christian experience. For instance, you must embrace the discipline of looking into the word of God on a daily basis, if you desire to grow. 1 Peter 2:2 says “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that ye may grow thereby”. It does not matter how long you have been coming to church, you cannot grow without deliberately staying in the word of God. Let God himself come from heaven and lay hands on you, there will be no growth until you get into the word and make a decision to be obedient to the word. Hebrews 5:14 says “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil”. In other words, growth comes through the discipline of constant study and practice of the word of God. Joshua 1:8 says “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”. Beloved, success is never an accident. I challenge you to give yourself today to discipline and you will see your dream come to pass. Further reading: 2 Timothy 2:1-7.
