Employer: Health Systems Trust Closing Date: 5 August 2013 PURPOSE: Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint up to four Data Capturers as short-term independent contractors based in the Western Cape. The incumbent’s primary responsibility will be to participate in an upcoming short-term research project, in line with the organisation’s goal of building an equitable, effective and efficient national health system in South Africa and the region through strengthening the functioning of health districts. The project aims to conduct a rapid assessment of injury morbidity burden at health facilities in two communities within the Western Cape Metropole (Nyanga and Khayelitsha). Data collected over a one-week period at six health facilities will need to be captured. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The main duty is the accurate capture and entry of all relevant study-orientated data from each facility into the study database provided. Ensure high standard of data quality through accurate, timely data validation and quality assurance. Ensure that all ethical requirements are fulfilled. Export and e-mail data on a daily basis. Do daily back-ups of data. Print facility reports. Interact with colleagues and project management to ensure fulfilment of project objectives. Interact with Western Cape Department of Health and HST staff to capture relevant subject-related information. Photocopying and scanning relevant study data. Filing and administrative duties as required. Provide on-site mentoring to facility staff on accurate completion of emergency centre registers. REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications A matriculation exemption is a minimum requirement; a tertiary qualification would be advantageous. Experience Experience in data collection and capturing. Experience with data capturing or collection in a health systems research environment or within the public health sector will be advantageous. Familiarity with the public health sector and district health system will be advantageous. Competencies Fast and accurate data capturing and entry skills. Computer experience in Microsoft Office, especially MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access. Excellent administrative and organisational skills. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to liaise with people at all levels, internally and externally. Good facilitation and communication skills. Speak/read and write English and/or Xhosa. Good time management skills. The candidate must be sensitive to cultural differences as well as political, confidential and ethical issues pertaining to patient information. RATE OF PAYMENT Payment for services rendered will be on hourly basis and in line with the current HST Consultancy Rates guide. Note should be taken that in accordance to SARS rules, a prevailing tax rate shall be deducted from the pay of successful contractors who are not VAT vendors. The contract period will be for nine days, from 27 August 2013 until 5 September 2013.
