Employment Opportunity Community Liaison for Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve UNESCO World Heritage Site nomination Mistaken Point Ambassadors Inc., located in Portugal Cove South (Southern Avalon), requires the services of a Community Liaison to create community awareness and encourage local communities and stakeholders to demonstrate support for the UNESCO World Heritage (WH) nomination for Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve (MPER). Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): • IInform and educate the public about Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve (MPER) and raise awareness of the significance and implications of World Heritage (WH) designation; • Conduct door-to-door meetings, local and regional presentations to stakeholders, and surveys; • Work closely with the provincial government’s Parks & Natural Areas Division’s (PNAD) bid team; and • Complete a report to substantiate community support for the WH bid. Qualifications and Attributes • Post secondary training in the field of marketing, public relations, education, heritage, or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience; • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills; • Writing skills and proficiency with programs such as Microsoft Word, Power Point, Publisher and Excel; • Be/Become familiar with the area and rural lifestyle; Note: This position is a 3 year contract pending funding approval. Regional travel will be required therefore candidates must have access to a vehicle.
