[Emporia, Kansas] Area Mary Kay consultants are participating in a joint venture between Mary Kay and non-profit organization Soldiers’ Angels to donate care packages to support female troops deployed in the Middle East. As citizens of the “Founding City of Veterans Day,” Detwiler, Barrows and Engle are determined to donate more care packages than any other city nation-wide. “We’re the founding city of Veterans Day,” said Detwiler. “We should be leaders when it comes to supporting our troops.” Consultants are accepting monetary donations for Mary Kay products which will be sent to women serving in the Middle East as part of Operation Mary Kay. Detwiler said that because the Mary Kay consultants are donating their profits as well, all donations are essentially doubled, boosting the number of care packages that can be sent. For example, if someone were to donate $50, that translates to $100 worth of products.
