【English/日本語】My first vote in lifetime 2 days ago, House of Representatives election was held in Japan. This election was the first one after I turned 20, so this time I could engage in it as a rightful voter for the first time. I dont want to mention the result of the election here. More important thing lies in going to vote itself. Putting my ballot into the box, a special emotion arose in my mind from the stories of people I have met before: 徐 東輝(Tonghwi Soh), who is enthusiastically encouraging youth in Japan to be interested and involved in politics. He gave an impressive speech saying Actually Im a Korean, so I can never vote for this country nevertheless Ive been living here since I was born and loving Japan. Please dont spoil your precious right to vote for your future, Japanese young people. Friends in Hong Kong I met in Tunisia, who are fighting for the democracy there. Their desire to realize the ideal society drove them so keen and brave that they has launched a revolution with umbrellas and yellow ribbons. Friends in MENA region, especially in Tunisia, where Arab Spring started. They fighted against the dictatorship, and finally made it to get democracy. But there are still a lot of problems there, and it will take a long time for the countries to be stable. Our right for vote is not natural. It is not until I heard of situations like that I realize how we Japanese people are blessed that we can decide our future by ourselves, just like we recognize the warmth of family after living alone. Sadly, commonness sometimes leads indifference. We have to let ourselves more connected to the society, and positively exercise our right to direct our own country. Moreover, it is also important to inspire other people around us to think more about the future of this country and take an action like voting. I will for sure act as a constituent of the country and express myself with my right from now, and sincerely wish the world where people can deliver their voices to the politic and all the peoples basic right are guaranteed. 先日、二十歳になって初めての投票へ行ってきました！ 国を動かす主体として、初めて投票箱に一票を投じたときの感覚は、今までにない新鮮なものがありました。笑 ここでは、今回の結果がどうとか、どの政党が良いとかいう話はしません。 それ以前に、僕たち若者が平等に国の未来を決める「権利」が与えられているということ。 この一見当たり前とも思える事実の価値を、改めて強く感じています。 今回の選挙には、少し特別な思いがありました。 前日のイベントで聞いた徐東輝さんの話や、国際会議でチュニジアに行ったときに出会った、 民主化を求め闘っている香港の友達、アラブの春を経験したチュニジアの友達から寄せられた声。 彼らがいくら求めても手に入らないもの、あるいは命がけで闘ってやっと手に入れたものを、僕らは与えられています。 当たり前という事実は、時に人を無関心へと導きます。 戦後最低という今回の投票率を突き付けられた今、 これからの日本を担っていく僕たち若者がどう政治と向き合っていくか、とても重要な課題だと感じています。 任せられる政党がないとか、そもそも民主主義が意志決定の方法として不適切だとか、 様々な意見があると思うし、それは考え方の多様性という意味でしっかり耳を傾けるべきだと思う。 でも、それで何も行動しないのはおかしいと思うし、 しっかりまずは自身のもつ権利を行使して、与えられた選択肢の中から最良のものを選択しなければ、社会は良くならない。 自分が持つ力の大きさや重さを、侮ってはいけない。 まずは自分が、もっと政治にも関心を持ち、情報を収集し自分なりの考えを持てるようになり、発信していけるようになります。 そんなきっかけにもなった選挙でした。 日本という国を構成する立派な一員として、主体的に国の未来について考え、行動したいと思います。
