Envelope day Dear Parents and Guardians, As you are probably aware - TopicsExpress

Envelope day Dear Parents and Guardians, As you are probably aware by now, the annual shortfall for North Bay Educate Together National School is currently at €26,000 per annum. This is a 20% rise on last year’s shortfall, despite the on-going and Trojan work down by the Board of Management to address the cost base of the school. Why is this, then? Basically, the state has substantively reduced the funding to schools, cutting by over 40% the funds that are available to North Bay school from the Department of Education. What does this mean? It means North Bay has to find €125 per child above what it receives from the state just to pay day to day maintenance costs. This is before any thoughts of improvement or development of the school environment. To overcome this shortfall we, the parents of North Bay, have to strive each year to bridge the gap for the sake of our children’s education. We do this through event fundraising and through envelope day. Our brilliant fundraisers have put on some great events this year, not least the recent Summer Fair which raised €3,800. This, combined with the Winter Fair, means that we have so far raised €11,000 this year. But even so, the total raised through events falls far short of that required. We are therefore requesting contributions to Envelope day on Tuesday the 25th of June. €75 per child recommended Please put in Blue Box in shared area marked envelope day. As a parent body, however, we need to ensure our school is on a surer footing financially. As we have achieved Charitable Status, for every family that contributes just €21 per month by means of a standing order the state will reimburse the school for the tax on that contribution. Forms are available from the school office upon request, downloadable from the school website, or contact any member of the Patron Committee.
