Environmentalist Jonathon Porritt has shown his support for hydro and solar plans in South Devon by personally investing in six renewable energy schemes. including solar panels on the roof of Torquay Museum. The portfolio of power generation projects has been put together by the Totnes Renewable Energy Society. The Society is seeking investment of £1.5million to get the projects up and running and is promising investors a four per cent return on their money. The schemes include the installation of more than 70 solar panels on the roofs of South Devon Rural Housing Association properties; solar panels on the roofs of Torquay Museum and a barn at Hatchlands Farm; hydro power systems on the River Dart at Totnes Weir and Staverton Leat; and a hydro power unit on the River Teign at Chudleigh which is already in operation. torquayheraldexpress.co.uk/Environmentalist-Jonathon-Porritt-backs-South/story
