Eryn Payne and I are trying to get Addy into a nighttime routine where we give her a bath , read her a story or two followed by a bottle and bed. Tonight we threw a classic book into the mix, Goodnight Moon which I must say, is pretty terrible. The author, the late Margaret Wise Brown, fails to covey any semblance of a story and simply demonstrates her ability to rhyme random words. An excerpt to prove my point from page 21- 24 ( there are no page numbers but I did take the time to count for any fact checkers reading this), Goodnight comb and goodnight brush. Goodnight nobody goodnight mush. goodnight nobody ? What does that mean Marge? From now on when someone asks me If you could have dinner with one person dead or alive who would it be? My answer will be Margaret Wise Brown as this book and its success has left me riddled with questions. As a result I am modifying Goodnight Moon to relate better our family The Paynes Say Goodnight to Things Goodnight sink full of dishes I said I would do Good night onesie still covered in poo Goodnight laundry piled on the stairs Good night ratty bathrobe which mommy still wears Goodnight Cat wherever you maybe For I know you will wake us right around 3 Goodnight diapers stuffed full in the genie Goodnight Ebola which resembles a weenie (right !?!) Good night wifey sorry if I snore Goodnight sweet Addy, baby she bore #latenightswithkevinandaddy
