Eternal Security ::: “What exactly do we mean by ‘eternal security ’?” Eternal security” = once we have trusted the blood of Christ as our one -­‐ and -­‐only payment for sin . . . • God immediately grants us salvation • And we can never lose our salvation • Regardless of what we do-­‐ don’t do from that point on Our salvation is not based on our performance (which changes moment -­‐ by -­‐ moment) but on what Jesus did for us on the cross (which never changes). “I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me, has eternal life . . .” John 5:24a “Eternal life” is something every true follower of Christ has right now here on earth. Heaven is merely the place where people who already have “eternal life” go when they leave this world. When we know our salvation is “eternally secure” . . . #1 – We are not afraid to die ::: To be absent from our body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8 #2 – We have true hope in every situation of life. Bottom Line : When we give our lives to Christ, we are irreversibly / irrevocably / irretrievably saved for all of time and eternity !
